I am sure that you all thought I forgot about this. Not so lucky…
Well, a New Year has started and while I am not a huge fan of the “New Year, New You” thing, I am looking forward to some of the challenges this year brings.
I am signed up to do the Train to Hunt runs here in Colorado Springs in April. I am also signed up for the Triple Crown archery tournaments at the Air Force Academy Archery Club. With all of these competitions, I traded in a PSE bow for a new Hoyt Nitrux. Along with the bow, I picked up the following to add to it – QAD Ultra Hunter, IQBowsight 7 pin, SAS 8″ stabilizer. I will continue to use my Easton aftermath 340 spine arrows with Nocturnal nocks and my TruBall Assassin release. I am working to get it set-up still… Day one of set-up and I already like it better.
With these upcoming competitions, I will be kicking into a pretty substantial workout program (not quite sure as to what just yet, CrossFit is on the table). I am sure this will also help with hunting season prep.
The greenhouse was holding its own against the cold until the new year’s first week. We dropped into the low single digits overnight, which in turn dropped internal greenhouse temps into the low 20’s. The pepper and tomato plants just couldn’t hold. The broccoli, celery, spinach, kale, garlic, carrots are holding up great though… so, YAY! In the meantime, we also have a pretty substantial herb garden growing in the kitchen.
My wife told me today that she would like to have chickens again, so in the near future I will be building out another chicken coop to accommodate. The question now is mobile or stationary… and how many to accommodate for?
Alright, so with all of that said, I will keep you updated as all of these and other challenges play out. Stay tuned for more updates.
